What is Talkie?
Talkie is a mobile character-chat app. You meet a Talkie, you talk, and you earn cards you can trade for virtual currency. The models behind the replies are MiniMax — Talkie’s own FAQ says so. The community is moderated. This is not CrushOn with a different icon.
This review is for anyone who saw Talkie in the store next to Character.AI and Chai. Recharges live in the app and are generally non-refundable. There is no public $9.99 landing page.
What Talkie actually is
Talkies are user-made personas: roleplay, coaching, fiction, daily chat. The extra loop is the card economy. Topics drop cards. Cards trade. Currency buys more. Creators can take a cut on original work. A yellow badge marks Talkies whose original info has been verified through SubSup.
Three FAQ details matter. The characters are AI, not people. Settings go through community standards and can be delayed or pulled. Memory is limited on purpose — older chats fade, and Talkie says it is working on that. Store copy also mentions create tools for image, video, audio, and music. Those sit beside the chat, they do not turn Talkie into a live-cam app.
Who it is for
Talkie fits someone who lives on a phone and liked Character.AI’s “talk to a persona” habit, with a collectible layer on top. It is a poor match for unfiltered cards, for a private Kindroid with a huge memory, or for a 3D Rep in AR.
Where Talkie falls short
Memory is admitted-thin. Moderation will annoy anyone coming from SpicyChat. Pricing is a pile of recharge packs, not a sentence you can quote.
