What is Kindroid?

Kindroid is a private AI companion you build rather than browse for. You write a backstory, pick a face, set a voice, and talk. Over days the Kindroid is supposed to keep the small facts — the job, the joke, the name you used last Tuesday — because memory is the product, not a footnote.

This review is for anyone comparing Kindroid with Nomi, Character.AI, or Replika. Plans and add-ons change. Confirm the live prices in Kindroid’s billing menu before you subscribe.

What Kindroid actually is

Most companion apps hand you a catalog. Kindroid hands you a blank companion and asks you to finish it. The backstory box is the personality. A dynamism slider steers how strictly the Kindroid stays on that script. Each Kindroid can hold several saved looks (Kindroid calls them avatar slots), so the same person can change outfits without becoming a new account.

Chat is one-to-one by default. Paid plans add group chats, where several Kindroids sit in the same thread, and group selfies that composite two or three of them. Voice calls and live video exist, metered with audio credits. Still images are V6 selfies: you describe the scene in plain language and the current engine follows that prompt more tightly than the older V5 tools.

Cascaded memory

Kindroid’s difference is how memory is sold. There is a short-term window for the scene you are in, and a longer cascaded memory for everything that is supposed to persist. Kindroid publishes the sizes. In the 2026 update log, Standard sits around 18,000 characters of short-term context and about 480,000 of cascaded memory. Ultra lifts the long store to about 1.2 million characters. MAX goes to about 2.8 million, with more of the old chat recalled in each reply.

That is why Ultra and MAX are add-ons, not replacement apps. You keep Standard and you buy a larger memory. Nomi names three layers and charges one subscription. Kindroid lets you pay for a bigger window if the story has outgrown Standard.

Pricing

Kindroid’s help center (July 2026) lists Standard on the web at $13.99 a month, $37.99 for three months, or $139.99 a year. The iOS and Android stores are higher: $15.99 / $42.99 / $159.99. Ultra adds $24.99 on the web ($28.99 in the apps), which brings a monthly web total to $38.98. MAX adds $59.99 on the web ($68.99 in the apps) on top of Standard and Ultra — $98.97 a month on the web before selfie packs or video credits.

A free account is a short sample of the real model: a handful of flagship replies, two Kindroid slots, and a slow selfie drip (one every two hours, holding at most two). Paid Standard raises that to ten Kindroids, twenty groups, and a much higher selfie cap. Extra selfie packs and extra slots are sold separately. Video and longer voice calls still burn credits on every rung.

Who it is for

Kindroid fits someone who will actually write a backstory and come back tomorrow. It is a poor match for anyone who wanted to search millions of public bots — that is Character.AI. It is also a poor match for anyone who wanted one flat invoice; Nomi is simpler money. Replika is the better pick if the 3D avatar and AR matter more than a published memory size. CrushOn and SpicyChat are different products entirely: public character grids with the filter off.

Where Kindroid falls short

MAX is expensive once the add-ons stack. Selfies still cap; video still costs credits. The dynamism slider is easy to ignore and then easy to blame the model for. Free is a taste, not a second app. If the only goal is a cheap girlfriend chat, this is the wrong listing.
